Purpose

Assign the work, monitor, report progress and take (corrective) action.

Objectives

  • Focus attention on the delivery of products.
  • Keep risks and issues under control.
  • The Business Case is reviewed
  • Products are delivered to agreed quality, within cost and time and to achieve the defined benefits.

Roles and Responsibilities

Corp. Or Prog. Mgmt:
Executive:
Approves Exception Plan.
Senior User:
Reviews Exception Plan.
Senior Supplier:
Reviews Exception Plan.
Project Manager:
Updates registers, Plans, logs; reviews Team Plans and Checkpoint Reports; hands over Work Packages and receives completed WP’s; Creates Highlight Reports, Issue Reports and Exception Reports.
Team Manager:
Accepts WP, Prepares Team Plans, Checkpoint Reports; reviews registers and logs
Project Assurance:
Reviews WP, Quality Register and plans; reviews Highlight Reports, Issue Reports and Exception Reports
Project Support:
Assist the PM with the Registers; keeps the Configuration Item Records.

Applying the Themes

Business Case (Why):
Benefits Review Plan is checked.
Organisation (Who):
Reporting requirements are provided in the Communication Management Strategy.
Quality (What):
Review and update Quality Register.
Plans (How, How much, When):
Product Descriptions are used for Work Packages, Stage plan is updated, Team Plan is reviewed.
Risk (What if):
Risk Register is updated, risks are captured and examined.
Change (What is the impact):
CIR’s, Issue Register, Daily Log are updated. Issue Reports created, issues captured.
Progress (Where are we, direction, should we carry on):
Authorise SP, Create Highlight and Exception Reports, review Checkpoint Reports and Product Status Account, Log Lessons, Seek advice.
